Well, Thanksgiving has now come and gone this year. Time continues to move at warp speed, and Christmas is looming. I spent Thanksgiving at Sally and Bryce's house this year. They cleaned out the bedroom downstairs that they have been using as a storage room since they moved in. They bought a bed frame that we put together on Black Friday, and stole a mattress from mom and dad's house that is currently not being used.
Speaking of Black Friday, I did go out and spend more money this year. I decided to buy a new TV and a subwoofer for my entertainment center. I spent far too long at Best Buy, and the crowds were ridiculous.
Thanksgiving morning I finished putting up my Christmas lights. I have kind of been doing them the hard way for the last two years, so I cut them in a couple of places and added plug and receptacle ends to make them easier to install. I also cleaned out the garage. It had a whole bunch of grass and leaves in it. Now I shouldn't have to do anything with it until the spring or summer.
Thanksgiving Day Kip and I went to see the movie Red Dawn. It was good, but slightly disturbing. I never did see the original one and the whole premise is a bit freaky. Then yesterday a whole bunch of us went to see Wreck-it-Ralph. It was me, Sally's family (minus Jane but plus Zack), Christy's family (minus Ryan but plus Keylee), and Justin's family. The movie was fun!!
Well, that's it for now.

Pirates!!
I went to see the Pirates of Penzance on Saturday night (8/18/12) at the Terrace Plaza Playhouse in Ogden. It has been years and years since I went to the playhouse, and it was the girl I went with (Jennifer Lindley) who suggested it. I have never seen it before, but am familiar with the story due to the number of times I have seen The Pirate Movie with my sisters growing up. The play was pretty good and I enjoyed it. It was intersting to compare the quality of the production with the plays that I have been watching recently, down at Tuacahn in St. George and at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City. However, it was good to see locals in action. Speaking of locals, I was surprised to see Stephanie Petersen in the play. She came dancing out as one of the sisters and I said, "I know her!" If I was better about following people on Facebook I would have known that she was in it, but...

Brigham City Temple
I had the opportunity to attend a preview tour of the new Brigham City Temple last night. My work was the firm that did the lighting design for the temple, and as such we received a number of tickets to tour the temple prior to the official open house beginning. The grounds are quite pretty, and the temple itself is beautiful. There is most definitely a peach blossom theme throughout the interior and exterior of the temple.
After the tour there were some refreshments, and then we went to get some ice cream at a local shop. We waited forever because they were understaffed and overworked. I was not the only one who had the idea to go get ice cream after the tour. They told us that they were planning to have some 1,600 people per hour during the open house, so I am glad that I went through when I did.
Hiking for Fun
Well we all know how great I am about updating stuff, so here goes. I went hiking a couple of weeks ago (8/4/12) up Lewis Peak, and it was actually a lot of fun. I would like to say that it was the first time that I have been hiking in a while, but that would be untrue based on the trip down to Moab over the summer where we did some hiking. Then again, the hikes in Moad weren't exactly tough for the most part, other than the fact that I was carrying other people's children.
Anyway, the hike was truly a hike, but it really was pretty up at the top. It was neat to be able to see off both sides of the peak into Eden/Huntsville and Ogden. I was able to see all three schools that I went to at the same time, kind of fun. Anyway, the hike back down wasn't so bad, and then I went to lunch at Rainbow Gardens. I haven't been there for years and years, so it was nice to do that.

Well, I guess my blog has officially been created, and this is technically my fist post.
Today was my last day of work at my current job. I guess I am unemployed until Monday. Kind of a weird feeling. The folks at KGE threw a bit of a party for me, I guess they are excited to see me go. It was nice, there was a Star Wars cake, a card with some great quotes and kind messages, and a gift card.
Anyways, that is all for now.
